Character Information
Name: Rebecca Hopkins
Fandom: Yu-gi-oh
Desired Age: 16
Desired PB: Brie Larson
Desired Job: High school student; part-time cashier at candy store.
Sexual Orientation: Straight.
Appearance: Rebecca is of average height, with long blonde hair and blue eyes. Occasionally, she can be seen wearing glasses; however, this is mostly for long-distance, and she’d rather squint and ask someone else than wear them. She has a splay of freckles across the bridge of her nose, which she is very sensitive about; any forays out into the sun for a length of time will only cause burning and her freckles to spread.
Personality: Moody, with a fiery temper, Rebecca is often referred to as obnoxious. Quick to pick a fight and quick to defend her family and friends, she has been sent to the principal’s office more times than she can count due to her outbursts and her tendency to solve problems with her fists. Deep down, she is a highly caring girl, frightened of rejection and at the same time, obsessed with her dream of a Prince. Rebecca becomes attached very easily, but due to her nature, she pushes those people away instead of drawing them closer. If you can get past her prickly nature, she’s a steadfast friend.
History: Rebecca was first introduced to the series when she was only eight-years-old (or twelve, depending on if you watched the English language or Japanese). Clutching a teddy bear and often talking to it as if it were sentient, she accused Yuugi Mutou of stealing her grandfather’s rare card, the Blue Eyes White Dragon. Infuriated and refusing to listen to reason, Rebecca challenged Yuugi to a duel, determined to win her grandfather’s card back. Yuugi forfeited the match, hoping to teach Rebecca about the power of friendship. They learn that the duel they played was the exact duel Solomon (Yuugi’s grandfather) and Arthur (Rebecca’s grandfather) played when they were trapped in a cave. Touched, Rebecca suitably felt bad for acting like a brat, and Yuugi gave her a special card, The Ties of Friendship, which she cherished ever since. Later, the genius girl helps Yuugi and his friends in their fight against Dartz, and she is noticeably older and wears glasses. At this point, she is already in college, and is able to hack into Kaiba Corp.’s computer system. She has an unhealthy attachment to Yuugi and consistently calls him her “boyfriend” which never fails to piss of Anzu; the latter might partially be why she persisted. She also dueled in the KC Grand Prix, but everyone likes to pretend that arc doesn’t exist, as it did not appear in the manga.
In-Game History: Rebecca’s family is textbook boring: stay-at-home mother who watches soap operas and cleans too much, and hard-working executive father who comes home late and goes on business trips every few months. They had a family dog, a beautiful golden retriever, who Rebecca grew up with, but old age and infirmity led to him being put to sleep during her freshman year of high school. Rebecca refused to allow her parents to adopt another puppy, or any other animal for that matter, and she has yet to get over her fear. Her grandparents live down the street, permitted to keep their home with the help of a home health aid and more than a little pitching in from Rebecca and her mother.
